Stores / Operational Yard Person – Council Depot Role (Temp Contract)
Full-Time Hours | 38 Hours Per Week | Monday to Friday
Temporary role until end of October 2026
$35 – $42 per hour (based on experience) paid weekly
We are seeking a reliable and hands-on Stores / Operational Yard Person to join a busy Council depot on a temporary contract through to October 2026. This role suits someone who enjoys practical, outdoor work and is confident operating machinery and driving HR vehicles as part of daily operations.
About the Role
You will support the smooth running of Council depots, ensuring materials, equipment, and yard operations are managed safely, efficiently, and in line with Council procedures and legislative requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with depot operations, safety, and compliant storage
- Using internal systems to process dockets, invoices, and store records
- Managing stock levels and ensuring timely fulfilment of store requests
- Coordinating deliveries, unloading, dispatch, and operational needs
- HR truck driving as required for depot operations, deliveries, and transport tasks
- Waste handling and transport to approved disposal facilities (e.g. Kimbriki Waste Facility)
- Depot upkeep including cleaning, audit corrections, and general maintenance
- General labouring duties including manual handling, digging, landscaping, vegetation control, and depot maintenance
Hours
- Monday to Friday
- 7:15am – 3:21pm
- Includes 30-minute unpaid meal break
- 38 hours per week
Contract Duration
- Temporary role until end of October 2026
Essential Requirements
- Class C Driver’s Licence
- HR Licence (HR driving required)
- Forklift Licence
- Front End Loader / Backhoe ticket
- Construction White Card
About You
- Experience in warehousing, civil construction, maintenance, or yard operations
- Confident operating machinery and HR vehicles
- Strong focus on safety, compliance, and following procedures
- Able to work independently once trained
- Reliable, practical, and self-motivated
