Senior RHEL SME | NV1 Cleared | Defence Program | Azure

I’m currently working with a leading delivery partner supporting Australia’s defence and national security sector, and we’re looking to bring in a Senior Red Hat Enterprise Linux Administrator to join a long-term, mission-critical program.

This is a genuinely strong opportunity for someone who wants to operate in a secure, high-impact environment, working on enterprise-scale cloud platforms that directly support defence capability.

The Role
You’ll be responsible for the ongoing support, stability, and uplift of RHEL environments hosted in Azure, with a strong focus on automation, resilience, and security compliance.

On a day-to-day basis, you’ll:

  • Manage and maintain RHEL environments across production and non-production
  • Drive automation through Ansible Automation Platform and Satellite
  • Ensure system performance, availability, and patch compliance using Azure-native tooling
  • Troubleshoot L2/L3 infrastructure issues across compute, storage, and networking
  • Work closely with service desk and change teams in line with ITIL processes
  • Support monitoring and observability via Azure Monitor and Dynatrace
  • Contribute to backup, recovery, and DR validation activities
  • Maintain documentation within a controlled, security-focused environment
  • Mentor junior Admins and Engineers

What I’m Looking For
I’m keen to speak with engineers who are comfortable operating in structured, highly regulated environments, and who bring a strong mix of Linux, cloud, and automation expertise.

Key experience:

  • Strong background in RHEL administration
  • Hands-on experience with Ansible Automation Platform and Satellite
  • Proven experience working in Microsoft Azure (IaaS) environments
  • Solid scripting and automation skills (with Git/version control)
  • Experience supporting both Linux and Windows Server VMs
  • Strong troubleshooting capability across infrastructure and OS layers
  • Experience with Defence and National Security work or Similar

Nice to Have

  • Red Hat certifications (RHCSA or similar)
  • Exposure to Terraform or Infrastructure-as-Code
  • Previous experience in Defence or Government environments

Non-Negotiables

  • Active AGSVA NV1 Clearance
  • Australian Citizenship

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Work on genuinely mission-critical defence systems
  • Strong focus on automation and modern cloud practices
  • Stable, long-term program of work
  • Collaborative environment that encourages innovation and idea-sharing

If you’re NV1 cleared and open to a role where your work directly contributes to national security outcomes, I’d be keen to have a confidential chat.
