Nurse Unit Manager - Melbourne, Australia 

Prospero Health and Social Care are actively seeking a Nurse Unit Manager in Melbourne to your nursing career to the next level in a leadership role that supports innovative clinical trials. We are currently looking for a Nurse Unit Manager to oversee the Clinical Inpatient Unit and collaborate across various departments to ensure smooth and efficient trial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Clinical Inpatient Unit, ensuring optimal resources and personnel, and supporting the execution of clinical trials.
  • Act as the key interface between project teams, the clinical unit, and other departments including Screening, Project Management, Laboratory, Medical, and Pharmacy.
  • Oversee staff resourcing and training to ensure adherence to trial protocols, ICH GCP, and Nucleus Network Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Manage clinical equipment servicing, maintenance, and calibration schedules.
  • Conduct feasibility reviews, provide input on operational/logistical activities, and assist with the development of clinical trial protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards, fostering a culture of safety and wellbeing.
  • Oversee the management of vendors and contractors related to clinical unit operations.
  • Lead and support the clinical nurse supervisors, ensuring the timely execution of trials and proper handling of equipment and consumables.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN A Nurse Unit Manager::

  • APHRA-registered Division 1 Nurse (mandatory)
  • Proven leadership and management experience in a clinical or trial setting
  • Comprehensive knowledge of ICH/GCP guidelines and regulatory standards
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Experience in the conduct of early-phase clinical trials (desired)
  • At least 12 months of experience in a management role is desirable
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills, with a keen eye for detail
