We are currently seeking a qualified Ships Engineer experienced in marine engineering tradeto service, repair and maintain marine engines. The position is located off the coast of Brisbane in Moreton bay. As the Ships Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the safe, efficient and reliable operation and maintenance of the vessels' mechanical and electrical systems. This includes routine checks, scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs onboard vessels operating

In this role your key responsibilities will be:

  • Operating and maintain main engines, generators and propulsion systems.
  • Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance and emergency repairs general maintenance.
  • Assisting operating personnel in carrying out planned and/or unplanned services and repairs during shift hours.
  • Manage electrical systems, pumps, hydraulics and fuel systems onboard.
  • Ensure safety systems (fire, bilge, alarms) are operational and compliant with regulations.
  • Maintain accurate logs, reports and maintenance records as per AMSA standards.
  • Support vessel operations through clear communication with the Master and crew.
  • Monitor onboard systems for efficiency, reliability and safety at all times

These positions require experienced professionals with the below skills and experience:

  • At least 3 years full time work experience in industry relevant role.
  • Hold industry relevant trade qualification as Ship Engineer, or equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of hydraulics and electrical systems. 
  • Marine Engine Driver Grade 1 (MED 1) Jet & Reef Cat
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with diesel engines, propulsion systems, and vessel hydraulics
  • Solid understanding of AMSA regulations and maritime safety procedures
  • Ability to work independently and respond calmly under pressure
  • Hands-on experience maintaining and repairing vessel systems at sea
  • Strong communication skills and teamwork with marine crew
  • Forklift license
  • First Aid/ CPR
