Civil Designer - Urban Development (12D / AutoCAD)

An opportunity is available to join a well‑established civil consultancy in Sydney with a long‑standing local reputation and a clear growth agenda.

The role offers end‑to‑end involvement in urban development design projects, from initial concept through to delivery. It is suited to an experienced designer at senior level who is comfortable working with minimal supervision and keen to take on broader responsibility.

Role Overview
The successful candidate will take ownership of design packages while also contributing to site inspections, mentoring junior staff, and supporting project delivery. As the role develops, there is scope to build and lead a small team.

The consultancy’s Directors and Lead Engineers actively encourage strategic input at all levels and promote a culture focused on innovation, technical quality, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Civil design delivery across urban development projects
• Preparation of detailed design using 12D and AutoCAD
• Site inspections and coordination during delivery phases
• Mentoring and guidance of junior designers and engineers
• Contribution to technical discussions and design strategies

Technical Requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ experience using 12D and AutoCAD
• Demonstrated experience in:
  • Site grading and earthworks
  • Stormwater drainage
  • Road and intersection design
  • OSD and in‑ground services
• Proven background in urban development design
• Ability to work independently and manage design responsibilities

Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
