As the independent auditor of the SA public sector, we report directly to Parliament on the finances, systems and processes of state and local government agencies.

About the role
The Senior Auditor is a key technical contributor to the smooth, timely and accurate delivery of audits across planning, evaluation and reporting.
Working with minimal day-to-day instruction, you will apply technical skill and professional judgement to complete audit activities, prepare audit outputs such as recommendations, management letters and activity follow-ups, and support high-quality financial audits for public sector agencies.
You will also support team leaders by providing on-the-job training, guidance and support to junior team members, and acting as an important link between junior staff and audit managers.

About you
To be successful, you will have:
- Australian recognised degree in Accounting or Commerce which meets the requirements for membership of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) or CPA Australia
- demonstrated critical thinking skills and professional judgment to assess risk, execute audit strategies, apply accounting treatments and evaluate evidence
- familiarity with legislative, regulatory, and public sector standards, ability to assess governance structures and identify control weaknesses
- proficiency in external audit, including advanced Excel skills and adaptability to new software tools
- high-level written and oral communication skills for preparing sophisticated letters and reports, and presenting to senior internal stakeholders when required

Other requirements
- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident or hold a visa with acceptable Australian work rights at the time of applying.
- Be able to obtain a successful National Criminal History Check.
- Be willing and able to travel to and attend various client sites as required to perform audit work and meet business needs.
- Be available to work additional hours during peak audit reporting periods, with compensation provided in accordance with relevant arrangements.
- Complete a pre-employment declaration if shortlisted.

$82,212 pa - $86,180 pa (ASO4 classification level)
