The opportunity:
You’ll lead the delivery of media and communications activities that support DHUD’s priorities across housing, planning and urban development. This is a hands-on role for someone who can set direction, bring people with them and deliver clear, high-quality outcomes at pace across media, speeches, online content, internal and external communications, campaigns and stakeholder management.

You will:

  • Develop and deliver proactive and reactive media and communications activities.
  • Prepare speeches, talking points, media materials, briefings, online content and internal communications.
  • Provide practical advice on issues, opportunities and stakeholder communication.
  • Build strong relationships across DHUD, Ministerial offices, government, media and industry.
  • Coordinate communications projects and campaigns to a high standard, on time and within budget.

About you:
You’re a sharp, calm and practical communications professional who can find the key message, shape the approach and deliver under pressure. You turn complex policy and programs into clear, compelling communication, and you’re confident working with senior leaders, media advisers, stakeholders and suppliers.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Significant experience developing proactive and reactive media, communications and public relations activities that support strategic priorities.
  • Strong writing, editing and content skills, including speeches, talking points, media materials, online content, briefings and strategic communications.
  • Sound judgement, discretion and confidence providing advice in sensitive, fast-moving environments.
  • The ability to build productive relationships across government, Ministerial offices, industry, media and internal teams.
  • Experience coordinating communications projects and campaigns to a high standard, on time and within budget.

What you need to know:

This is a full-time ongoing ASO6 role based in Adelaide, reporting to the Head of Communications. You’ll be required to obtain a National Police Check before employment, with renewal required every three years. Please refer to the role description for all special conditions.

Remuneration:

ASO6– $105,747 min – $111,854 max plus superannuation.
