An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Finance Specialist to join a large-scale, industry-leading organisation supporting a high-performing maintenance and project governance function. This role will see you partnering closely with operational and project stakeholders, providing financial reporting, forecasting, cost control, and commercial support across a portfolio of strategic programmes. Working within a collaborative and fast-paced environment, you will play a key role in delivering accurate financial insights, supporting decision-making, and ensuring strong financial governance across multiple projects and operational initiatives.
Your new role
- Prepare monthly financial reporting packs and performance analysis for senior stakeholders.
- Monitor project expenditure against budgets and forecasts.
- Conduct detailed variance analysis and provide meaningful financial insights.
- Develop and maintain project cost forecasts and budget projections.
- Manage accruals and ensure compliance with financial controls and governance requirements.
- Support procurement and financial processes, including purchase requisitions and invoice management.
- Partner with project managers and operational stakeholders to drive financial performance.
- Assist with budgeting, planning, forecasting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will hold a degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline and possess previous experience in management accounting, project accounting, commercial finance, or project control environments.You will also demonstrate:
- Strong financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost management experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and business partnering skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities within a fast-paced environment.
- Experience using SAP or a similar ERP system.
Highly regarded experience includes exposure to mining, resources, engineering, infrastructure, or heavy industry environments, along with Power BI and CA/CPA qualifications (or progress towards completion).
