Excising Opportunity with an established and growing construction business is seeking an experienced Estimator to join its team in Sydney's North-West.
Operating across commercial construction, fit-out, remediation, maintenance and defect rectification projects, this role provides the opportunity to work across a diverse project portfolio while playing a key role in securing future work.
Reporting directly to the Directors and Project Delivery Team, you will be responsible for preparing accurate estimates, managing tender submissions and supporting project teams from pre-construction through to delivery.
This position will suit an Estimator looking for greater ownership and career progression or a Contracts Administrator seeking to transition into a dedicated estimating role.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets and tender submissions
- Review drawings, specifications and scopes of work
- Complete take-offs and quantify labour, materials and subcontractor packages
- Obtain and negotiate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors
- Attend site inspections, tender briefings and client meetings
- Assess project risks, exclusions and commercial opportunities
- Develop tender methodologies and value engineering solutions
- Prepare variation pricing and cost plans for existing projects
- Maintain supplier relationships and estimating databases
- Work closely with Project Managers and Directors throughout the tender process
- Ensure all pricing aligns with project delivery requirements and profitability targets
Skills & Experience To be considered, you will ideally possess:
- 3+ years' experience in an Estimator, Junior Estimator or Contracts Administration role
- Experience within commercial construction, fit-out, refurbishment, remediation or maintenance projects
- Ability to interpret architectural, structural and services drawings
- Experience preparing BOQs, cost plans and tender submissions
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
- High-level proficiency with Microsoft Excel and construction software
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities
- Current Australian Driver's Licence
Desirable
- Degree, Diploma or Trade Qualification in Construction, Quantity Surveying, Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience pricing remedial, defects rectification or maintenance projects
- Knowledge of Australian building codes and construction methodologies
- Exposure to negotiated, D&C and lump sum tender environments
