AO6 Senior Communications Advisor - Infrastructure & Transport

Location: Nerang, QLD
Contract: 6 months, with possible extension options available for the right candidate, pending budget decisions as always
Pay: $88.68 to $94.71 p/h including super
Work type: Full-time / Part-time
Work arrangement: Site and office based as required, with specific arrangements agreed with your supervisor on a case-by-case basis
Clearance: No security clearance required; employment screening applies

About the Role
Join our State Government client in a senior communications and engagement role supporting a major infrastructure program. You will be at the centre of community engagement, stakeholder relationships, media and emerging issues. You will also lead a small communications and engagement team and provide strategic advice to senior project and regional leaders.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Deliver community engagement, community relations and correspondence activities
  • Manage relationships with community, industry, business and government stakeholders
  • Identify emerging communication issues, trends and risks
  • Develop proactive issues management and external engagement responses
  • Provide high-level media, engagement and strategic communication advice
  • Lead and coach a small communications and stakeholder team
  • Produce clear, consistent and high-quality public information and collateral
  • Build strong relationships with project teams and external stakeholders
  • Stay across major works and project activity to anticipate communication risks

What You Bring (Essential Criteria)

  • You've delivered community engagement and stakeholder relations in a complex public-facing environment
  • You've managed media, public affairs or issues management activities
  • You can advise senior leaders on sensitive communication and stakeholder issues
  • You've led or coached communications, engagement or stakeholder staff
  • You can manage difficult stakeholders and critical conversations professionally
  • You hold a current Class C driver's licence and have your own vehicle for required site travel
  • You're an Australian citizen

Nice to Have (Desirable Criteria)

  • Major infrastructure, transport or construction project experience
  • IAP2 or equivalent community engagement training
  • Knowledge of the infrastructure planning lifecycle
  • Social media capability
  • Communications, public relations or marketing qualifications, or equivalent experience
