About the company

Our client is a well-established Tasmanian forestry organisation managing a large public production forest estate. The organisation balances environmental, social and commercial outcomes across a large forestry estate, with operations spanning land management, forest products, fire management, road construction and maintenance.

The Perth Nursery and Seed Centre plays a key role in supporting reforestation, plantation forestry and native species production. The site produces high-volume forestry seedlings and manages operational and strategic seed stores, supplying internal regions and external customers across Tasmania.

About the role

This role leads a specialist nursery and seed centre through an important succession and capability transition, balancing operational delivery, safety, production reliability, commercial outcomes and stakeholder confidence.

Duties

  • Lead nursery, seed centre, safety and commercial performance
  • Develop production schedules, seed supply plans and delivery priorities
  • Manage budgets, labour planning, cost control and productivity
  • Build team capability through coaching, mentoring and clear direction
  • Partner with regions, customers, contractors and suppliers

  
Skills & experience

  • Leadership experience in high-volume nursery or production operations
  • Horticulture, agriculture, forestry nursery or tree crop capability
  • Business acumen across budgets, labour, costs and customer outcomes
  • Strong stakeholder, communication and negotiation skills
  • Cert in Horticulture or Agriculture desirable, but not essential
