Your New CompanyHays Trades & Labour is partnering with a leading landscaping and grounds maintenance contractor delivering high-quality services across commercial, government and community-based projects throughout Canberra. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Garden Maintenance Team Leader to join a well-established organisation that values safety, teamwork and career development.
As a Garden Maintenance Team Leader, you will lead by example while working alongside your team to ensure all gardening and grounds maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. Your duties will include:

  • Leading and coordinating daily garden maintenance activities
  • Providing hands-on support and mentoring team members on-site
  • Mowing, hedging, pruning, weeding, mulching and fertilising
  • Identifying and reporting plant health or site maintenance issues
  • Conducting site risk assessments and promoting a safe work environment
  • Liaising professionally with clients and site stakeholders
  • Ensuring all works are delivered to scope and quality standards

What You'll Need to SucceedTo be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience in garden or grounds maintenance
  • Experience leading or supervising small teams
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Ability to operate garden maintenance equipment safely and efficiently
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage daily workloads
  • Strong commitment to workplace health and safety

Desirable:

  • Certificate III in Horticulture or equivalent
  • Previous experience maintaining commercial or government sites
  • Knowledge of plant health management and pest control practices
