As KOTH transitions to an owner-operator model, this role will be critical in ensuring the production fleet is equipped to support operational needs.

King of the Hills (KOTH) is the flagship operation of Vault Minerals Limited and one of the largest gold mines in Australia. Undergoing significant expansion, KOTH is nearing completion of a 7.5 million tonne per annum (Mtpa) processing plant (previously 5.2Mtpa), providing a solid platform for long-term production growth. This dynamic operation combines open-pit and underground mining, with exciting exploration activities driving the future. KOTH is located approximately 900 km northeast of Perth and 25 km north of Leonora, within the Goldfields Region of Western Australia.

Reporting to the Open Pit Production Superintendent, the Mine Controller is to contribute to the effective operation of the King of the Hills Gold Mine through coordination and optimization of the operation of the open pit mining fleet.

This position will be offered on an 8:6 roster FIFO from Perth

Key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the culture of safety and performance of Vault Minerals Limited.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate safely and maintain and promote safe production.
  • Monitor and manage the mining fleet in real-time using FMS tools, assigning tasks, tracking locations, and ensuring accurate data capture for production reporting.
  • Configure shift models, perform system checks, and troubleshoot issues to maintain FMS integrity.
  • Optimise mining activities by coordinating with operators, adjusting routes, and responding to delays or breakdowns to minimise idle time.
  • Participate in safety meetings, emergency drills, and compliance checks, ensuring all fleet movements align with site protocols.
  • Update and maintain FMS data with production information, generating reports on KPIs like haul cycles and equipment utilisation.
  • Collaborate with mining production supervisors and support team to implement best practices.

About You

  • Previous experience in mining operations, dispatch, mine control, or production coordination.
  • Experience using fleet management and mine dispatch systems (e.g., Modular Mining, Hexagon, Wenco, Pitram, Deswik, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge and experience in radio communications across multiple channels, with advanced computer skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to make sound decisions in high-pressure environments.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the WA Work Health & Safety Act (2020) and Work Health & Safety (Mines) Regulations (2022).
  • Hold a current WA Driver’s License (manual C Class)
