Summary
Our client Benchmark Painting is seeking to add a skilled Painter to its experienced team in Osborne Park, Western Australia. With more than 25 years of collective residential, commercial and industrial painting experience, the company is committed to quality workmanship, attention to detail, customer satisfaction and environmentally responsible practices, including the use of conventional and low-VOC paint systems across diverse projects.
The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
• Prepare interior and exterior building surfaces by cleaning, scraping and sanding existing coatings, filling holes and cracks, patching defects, smoothing, sealing and priming surfaces as required.
• Select, mix and prepare paints, stains, varnishes, primers and protective coating materials to achieve specified colours, finishes and application requirements.
• Apply paints, stains, varnishes, primers and protective coatings using brushes, rollers and spray equipment appropriate to the project and coating system.
• Undertake residential, commercial, industrial, strata, maintenance and restoration painting work to required quality and presentation standards.
• Protect floors, furnishings, adjoining surfaces and work areas using masking, drop sheets and other appropriate coverings.
• Set up and safely use ladders, restricted-height scaffolding, elevating work platforms and other authorised access equipment required for painting activities.
• Inspect completed surfaces for coverage, consistency and finish quality and undertake touch-ups or rectification where required.
• Clean and maintain painting tools, spray equipment, materials and work areas following completion of tasks.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures, site risk controls and safe work-at-height requirements.
• Complete painting and finishing work efficiently and within established project timeframes.
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:
• Minimum 12 months' recent, directly relevant experience working as a Painter or in a closely comparable painting role.
• AQF Certificate III in Painting and Decorating with required training, Certificate IV, or equivalent relevant trade qualification.
• Applicants without the relevant formal qualification should demonstrate at least three years of directly relevant painting experience.
• Demonstrated practical experience in surface preparation, including cleaning, scraping, sanding, filling, patching, smoothing, sealing and priming.
• Demonstrated experience applying paints, stains, varnishes, primers and protective coatings using brushes, rollers and spray equipment.
• Good knowledge of paint preparation, colour matching, coating systems and finishing techniques.
• Ability to safely use ladders, scaffolding, access equipment and standard professional painting tools.
• Sound understanding of workplace health and safety requirements and safe working practices applicable to painting activities.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently produce high-quality painting finishes.
