Trades Assistant – Hydraulic & Mechanical Workshop

$40.00–$45.00 per hour (casual) | Archerfield | 38 Hours Per Week | Monday to Friday | Ongoing Work | Overtime

Want to get hands-on with heavy equipment and learn from qualified Fitters? Im currently recruiting Trades Assistant to join a busy, workshop-based team.

The role
You’ll work alongside Mechanical Fitters on hydraulic and mechanical repair jobs, keeping the workshop moving. Day to day, you’ll be:

• Assisting with stripping, cleaning, inspecting and reassembling hydraulic cylinders and mechanical components
• Preparing tools, materials and components for workshop jobs
• Helping with basic mechanical fitting and assembly under direction
• Loading, unloading and moving components and equipment around the workshop
• Operating forklifts for materials and equipment handling
• Keeping the workshop clean and tidy, and doing general labouring

What you’ll need

• Current Forklift Licence (LF) 
• Previous experience as a Trades Assistant, or in a mechanical, hydraulic, mining, heavy engineering or industrial workshop setting
• A mechanical mindset and confidence working around heavy components

Highly regarded

• Exposure to hydraulic cylinders, mechanical repairs, mobile plant or heavy equipment

Good to know

• You don’t need to be trade qualified.
• Your pay rate within $40–$45 per hour depends on your experience, mechanical capability and relevant skills and licences.
