Senior Scientist - Advanced Materials & Battery Technology
PERSOL is currently recruiting a Senior Scientist / Experimental Lead to join an innovative Brisbane based company working across advanced materials and battery technology. The successful candidate will join a growing technical team and play a key role in experimental design, execution and product development.
This is a senior technical position working across advanced materials, performance additives and battery-related technologies, with a strong focus on experimental design, laboratory execution and translating technical findings into commercially relevant outcomes.
The Opportunity
The role would suit a scientist who enjoys being hands-on technically, but is also looking to take greater ownership of complex experimental programs and contribute to product development.
Working closely with the Product Development teams, you will be responsible for planning and executing experimental programs across multiple technology streams. You will also work across different areas of the business, building strong relationships with technical and commercial stakeholders.
You will:
- Design and execute targeted experiments supporting product development, product refinement and commercialisation
- Develop experimental methodologies and test protocols
- Lead advanced testing and analytical programs, including electrochemical analysis
- Coordinate multiple experimental programs and ensure high standards of data capture, quality control and reporting
- Analyse experimental results and translate technical findings into clear recommendations
- Contribute to the development and refinement of new materials and technologies
- Support technical documentation and contribute to intellectual property and patent activities
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring and support to junior scientists and laboratory staff
About You
You will be an experienced scientist with a strong technical background in materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering or a related discipline.
You will ideally bring:
- A PhD or equivalent industry experience in a relevant scientific discipline
- At least 3 years' post-PhD industry experience
- Strong experience designing and executing complex experimental programs
- A solid understanding of electrochemistry
- Experience with chemical and/or materials characterisation
- Exposure to product development and technical project management
- Experience working within quality controlled laboratory environments
- Previous experience within lithium-ion batteries, energy storage or advanced materials would be highly regarded
- Strong technical reporting and data analysis skills
- Experience mentoring or guiding junior technical staff
