Lyell McEwin Hospital is one of South Australia's busiest tertiary referral centres, and its vascular service is growing to meet the needs of a rapidly expanding northern Adelaide community. If you're a credentialled Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Practitioner Candidate or working towards Nurse Practitioner, with a strong vascular foundation and a commitment to delivering expert, patient-centred care, this part-time ongoing role offers genuine clinical scope within a well-supported multidisciplinary team.
Your Role in Our Vascular Service
Working within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN), you will function at an advanced practice level across the full vascular patient journey — from initial assessment through to post-procedural follow-up. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting independent clinical assessments, ordering and interpreting diagnostic investigations, and initiating treatment within your endorsed scope of practice
- Managing complex vascular caseloads in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including wound assessment and chronic limb-threatening ischaemia
- Collaborating with vascular surgeons, allied health professionals, and referring GPs to coordinate seamless continuity of care
- Contributing to service improvement, evidence-based protocol development, and education for nursing and junior medical staff
- Provide psychosocial support, advocacy, and education for patients and their families.
What You Bring
- Current registration as a Nurse Practitioner with AHPRA, with an endorsement relevant to vascular or surgical practice
- Demonstrated clinical experience in vascular nursing at an advanced or nurse practitioner level
- Competency in vascular assessment skills including ankle-brachial index measurement and wound classification
- Proven ability to manage autonomous caseloads and make independent clinical decisions within a defined scope
- Strong communication skills for engaging with patients, families, and a broad clinical team across NALHN sites
- Understanding of SA Health policies, credentialling frameworks, and relevant legislative requirements
