Finance & Contracts Officer – NSW Government Contract opportunity | Government | Finance & Commercial Operations
We’re looking for a detail-oriented Finance & Contracts Officer to join a NSW Government department, supporting the financial and administrative processes associated with essential infrastructure and maintenance projects.
This is a great opportunity for someone with experience across finance administration, accounts payable or contract coordination who enjoys working with a range of stakeholders and ensuring financial processes run smoothly.
Working closely with project teams, suppliers, contractors and internal finance teams, you’ll play an important role in ensuring payments, claims and contract administration activities are completed accurately, compliantly and within required timeframes.
About the role You’ll provide finance and commercial administration support across a range of contracts, helping ensure supplier and contractor payments are processed efficiently and in line with NSW Government requirements.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing and processing contract and panel agreement payments, ensuring accuracy and adherence to agreed timeframes.
- Preparing payment certificates and managing payment claims in line with relevant legislative requirements.
- Assisting with month-end accruals, reporting, purchase orders and amendments.
- Coordinating contract variations, security deposits and contractor performance reporting.
- Maintaining accurate contract, payment and financial records across SAP and procurement systems.
- Responding to supplier, contractor and internal stakeholder enquiries regarding payments, claims and variations.
- Supporting compliance with government policies, financial procedures and statutory requirements.
About you
You’ll be organised, proactive and comfortable managing competing priorities in a busy operational environment. You’ll bring strong attention to detail, a practical approach to problem-solving and the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders across different teams and locations.
Ideally, you’ll have:
- Experience in finance administration, accounts payable, contract administration or a similar commercial support role.
- Exposure to purchase orders, supplier payments, payment claims, accruals or contract variations.
- Experience using SAP, procurement or financial management systems.
- An understanding of financial processes, compliance requirements and record management.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to follow up with stakeholders to resolve outstanding queries.
- A Certificate IV in Business, Administration, Finance or Accounting, or equivalent relevant experience.
Experience within NSW Government would be advantageous, particularly if you’ve worked with contractor payments.
Why consider this opportunity?
- Join a NSW Government department supporting essential infrastructure and maintenance projects.
- Gain exposure to government finance, procurement and contract management processes.
- Work collaboratively with project teams, suppliers and contractors across the business.
- Build on your existing finance or commercial administration experience in a varied role.
If you have a background in finance operations or contract administration and are looking for your next opportunity within the NSW Government sector, we’d love to hear from you.
