ASAP Start | Casual Ongoing | Box Hill South | 9-Day Fortnight
We are currently seeking two experienced candidates to join a local Council team based in Box Hill South on a casual ongoing basis.
These are hands-on outdoor roles suited to candidates with an MR or HR licence and experience in maintenance, construction, civil works, infrastructure, landscaping, or a similar environment.
The Positions
We are currently recruiting for:
- Infrastructure Maintenance Officer
- Infrastructure Cleansing Officer
Working hours: 7:00am - 3:50pm
Pay Rate $44+ casual rate hourly
Roster: 9-day fortnight
Location: Box Hill South
Start: ASAP
Employment: Casual ongoing
Licence: MR or HR licence required
Maintenance Officer
The Maintenance Officer will be responsible for carrying out a range of maintenance and infrastructure works across the municipality, including:
- Maintaining roads, footpaths, stormwater drainage, street signs and street furniture
- Performing asphalting, concreting, cleansing, repair and installation works
- Carrying out programmed and reactive inspections of Council infrastructure
- Operating an asphalt truck and drainage truck
- Performing manual handling tasks including lifting, digging, raking and sweeping
- Using mechanical and electrical tools and equipment
- Collecting and removing dumped rubbish and other materials
- Supporting general outdoor maintenance activities as required
Infrastructure Cleansing Officer
The Infrastructure Cleansing Officer will assist with keeping Council-managed public areas clean, safe and well maintained, including:
- Townships, shopping centres, civic facilities and car parks
- Footpaths, shared paths and laneways
- Operating footpath sweepers and other mechanical cleaning equipment
- Removing graffiti using various methods
- Collecting and disposing of dead animals, hazards and general dumped waste
- Transporting and moving a range of materials
- Assisting with general maintenance activities
- Carrying out programmed and reactive infrastructure inspections
- Performing manual handling tasks including lifting, digging, raking and sweeping
- Using mechanical and electrical tools and equipment
About You
To be successful, you will have:
- Current MR or HR driver's licence
- Previous experience in maintenance, construction, civil works, infrastructure, landscaping or a similar hands-on environment
- Experience operating trucks or other mobile plant is highly regarded
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic
- Ability to follow instructions and Council procedures
About You
