We are currently seeking an Automotive Tray & Accessories Electrician (Automotive Electrician) to join the team! You will be responsible for the installation, integration, modification, testing, diagnosis, repair and commissioning of automotive electrical systems and electrical accessories on commercial and electric vehicles, including vehicles fitted with aftermarket trays, canopies and related equipment. This is a full-time ongoing position working 38 hours per week in Mount Kuring-gai, NSW.
Main tasks:
- Read and interpret job sheets, automotive wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, technical drawings, accessory instructions and vehicle specifications to determine electrical installation, wiring, testing and repair requirements and ensure work is completed correctly and safely.
- Install, wire, connect, integrate and test automotive electrical accessories on commercial and battery electric vehicles, including driving lights, work lights, light bars, reverse cameras, parking sensors, UHF radios, electric brake controllers and related aftermarket electrical and electronic components.
- Install, modify, route, secure and terminate automotive wiring harnesses, looms, relays, fuses, connectors and associated electrical components in accordance with manufacturer specifications, applicable Australian standards and company quality procedures.
- Install and integrate auxiliary automotive electrical and power systems, including dual battery systems, DC chargers, Anderson plugs, trailer plugs, solar charging systems and other 12V auxiliary power equipment.
- Perform electrical testing, functional checks and quality inspections following installation or repair to confirm correct operation, electrical safety, reliability and compliance prior to vehicle handover.
- Install mounting brackets, cable supports, conduits and associated components required for the safe installation, routing and protection of automotive electrical wiring and accessories on trays, canopies and vehicle bodies.
- Connect and integrate electrical systems and accessories fitted to trays and canopies with the vehicle's existing electrical system, ensuring appropriate circuit protection, wiring integrity and correct operation.
- Apply battery electric vehicle (EV) safety awareness, high-voltage awareness and applicable isolation procedures when performing automotive electrical and accessory installation work on EV platforms.
- Carry out automotive electrical and accessory installation work on battery electric vehicles in accordance with applicable EV safety procedures, isolation requirements, manufacturer specifications and company procedures.
- Conduct pre-delivery inspections and final electrical quality checks on completed vehicles to ensure installed electrical systems and accessories are functioning correctly and installations meet required workmanship and company standards.
- Complete job sheets, electrical installation records, checklists, repair records and quality control documentation accurately for each vehicle.
- Safely operate electrical testing equipment, hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment required to perform automotive electrical installation, diagnosis and repair work.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised workstation and ensure electrical testing equipment, tools, parts and workshop equipment are appropriately stored and maintained.
Required/Relevant Qualifications & Work Experience:
- Certificate III in in Automotive Electrical Technology plus minimum 1 year’ relevant work experience in the last 5 years.
- Current Australian drivers licence
Required/Relevant Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong practical experience in automotive electrical installation, wiring, testing and fault diagnosis
- Ability to install and integrate a range of vehicle accessories and 12V electrical systems with a high level of accuracy and workmanship
- Sound knowledge of automotive wiring, electrical components, vehicle accessory fitment and workshop safety procedures
- Ability to work from wiring diagrams, technical instructions and job sheets with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality, safety and productivity
- Good communication skills and ability to work cooperatively within a production / workshop team
Annual salary will be between $79,000.00 to $82,000.00 (plus superannuation) depending on level of experience.
