Workday Product Owner

  • Shape the long-term direction of our newly implemented Workday platform.
  • Support our Australian and New Zealand operations in the adoption of the new HCM system and delivery of Phase 2.
  • Combine strategic product ownership with partnership across business, technology and vendor teams.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Workday Product Owner to support the ongoing success of Kinetic’s newly implemented HCM system across Australia and New Zealand. This is an opportunity to shape the future of our people systems by ensuring that Workday remains sustainable, integrated, secure and primed to support future growth.

Joining our HR Systems team, you will lead the long-term direction of our Workday platform, including its roadmap, lifecycle and ongoing health. You will also play a key role in delivering Phase 2 of the implementation, which will introduce additional modules to further support operational functionality.

This opportunity will focus on providing product leadership across business, technology and vendor teams, ensuring Workday decisions align with Kinetic’s broader technology architecture and operating model. You will partner with internal stakeholders to support their business processes, governance and operational outcomes.

What You Will Do

  • Own the strategy and evolution of our Workday platform, spanning Core HCM, Compensation, Benefits and Workday Help today, then Recruitment, Talent, Learning and Advanced Compensation in Phase 2.
  • Define and maintain the Workday platform roadmap in alignment with the broader business and technology strategy.
  • Provide expert guidance on Workday functionality, configuration, design and best practice.
  • Evaluate new releases, capabilities and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities to improve performance, scalability and user experience.
  • Work with our Architecture, Integration, Security and Technology teams to keep Workday aligned to enterprise standards and to assess impacts across systems, data, integrations and processes.
  • Partner closely with the HCM Project team to support the rollout of Phase 2 and continuous system improvements.
  • Build strong relationships with Workday, implementation partners and support providers, overseeing enhancements, upgrades and lifecycle activities and resolving complex issues and escalations.
  • Oversee day-to-day support, incident resolution, and security and access management, ensuring service quality and platform stability.
  • Coordinate testing, validation and implementation of approved business process and configuration changes.
  • Establish governance processes, monitor platform health and adoption and drive continuous improvement across Australia and New Zealand.

What You Will Need

  • Extensive functional experience as a Workday product, platform or systems owner within a complex environment, with an understanding of design considerations and best-practice use.
  • Experience supporting a Workday implementation and the transition into BAU and lifecycle management.
  • Proven ability to work with Architecture, Integration and Security teams in making platform decisions with consideration for their impact on data, processes and security.
  • Strong skills in managing vendors and partners, including release management, enhancements, upgrades and escalations.
  • Experience establishing governance processes and monitoring platform health, adoption and risk.
  • Workday certification, knowledge of JIRA and Confluence and an understanding of Australian and New Zealand HR requirements are highly regarded though not essential.
