A little about the role
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Domestic & Family Violence Senior Practitioner is responsible for the planning, coordination, implementation and administration of domestic and family violence (DFV) programs, initiatives and service responses across Norfolk Island.
The position applies a high level of specialist knowledge, professional judgement and initiative to achieve organisational objectives and improve outcomes for victim-survivors, children, young people and families affected by domestic and family violence.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Develop and deliver programs, procedures, practices, service pathways and service responses to meet the varied needs of children, young people and victim/survivors impacted by DFV.
- Provide expert DFV advice and guidance during case consultations, collaborative meetings and stakeholder discussions.
- Provide professional supervision, mentoring and coaching to staff, delivering culturally appropriate, holistic, trauma-informed, and responsive services to community members impacted by DFV.
- Work with other team members to undertake delegated functions under the Child Welfare Act 2009 (NI) including receiving, investigating, and assessing child protection concerns.
The base salary for this position is $105,570.40 - $110,350.76 per annum + super + salary packaging options up to $15.9k per year. This is a full, ongoing position.
This role will involve living on Norfolk Island, a remote island community in the South Pacific. A remote allowance may be provided, to be confirmed during the recruitment stage.
About you
Our ideal candidate will come with significant post-qualification experience in child and family work, with a focus on domestic and family violence. You will also have experience in planning and implementing projects, programs or service initiatives.
Prior experience working with people in a crisis response, including conducting risk assessments, developing case management plans and delivering evidence-based interventions is also essential.
Other key things we are looking for:
- Recognised Social Work or other relevant degree.
- Ability to tailor responses to a unique socio-cultural and remote community context.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of community services systems, DFV practice frameworks and service delivery models.
- Tenacious, diligent, and resilient with the ability to adopt a creative approach to problem solving in a resource limited environment.
- Ability to work respectfully in partnership with internal and external stakeholders and community members.
