Your new company
Hays is partnering with a major Federal Government department to source an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer with a strong background in platform automation, container technologies and cloud infrastructure. This opportunity sits within a large-scale enterprise environment supporting critical digital services used by millions of Australians.
Working as part of a highly technical infrastructure team, you will help design, automate and support enterprise container platforms and private cloud environments. The role focusses on Red Hat OpenShift, OpenStack, infrastructure automation, observability, and CI/CD practices, helping drive platform reliability, scalability and operational efficiency across a modern infrastructure ecosystem.
Your new role
As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will:
- Design, deploy and automate enterprise-scale OpenShift and OpenStack environments
- Support the provisioning, scaling and lifecycle management of container platforms
- Implement observability and monitoring solutions across infrastructure and application environments
- Configure and maintain telemetry pipelines, agents and collectors
- Develop and support infrastructure-as-code solutions and automation frameworks
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and GitOps deployment practices
- Work closely with engineering teams to streamline platform operations and developer experiences
- Contribute to platform reliability, performance optimisation and operational excellence
What you'll need to succeed
You will bring strong experience across modern cloud and container platforms, including:
- Enterprise Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift administration and engineering
- OpenStack or private cloud infrastructure environments
- Infrastructure automation using Ansible and Infrastructure as Code practices
- GitOps methodologies using tools such as ArgoCD
- CI/CD pipeline development and automation
- Linux systems administration and platform engineering
- Monitoring, telemetry and observability tooling within large-scale environments
- Strong troubleshooting, automation and infrastructure delivery skills
Highly regarded:
- Experience with OpenShift Dev Spaces or similar cloud-based developer tooling
- Kubernetes, OpenShift, OpenStack or Linux certifications
- Experience working within large enterprise or government ICT environments
