Position Overview:
The Residential Care Officer provides person-centered, strengths-based support to vulnerable participants of Arthur Care, funded under the NDIS and NIISQ to enhance independence, wellbeing, community participation, and quality of life. The role focuses on building capacity, coordinating support, advocating for participant needs, and ensuring services align with Service Practice Standards and participant goals.
Tasks & responsibilities:
- Conduct interviews and work with participants residing in supported accommodation to identify goals, needs, risks, and strengths, and develop and implement tailored support plans aligned with their NDIS guidelines.
- Support participants to develop daily living skills, emotional regulation, social skills, and community engagement.
- Advocate for participant rights, access, and inclusion and facilitate access to appropriate health, housing, education, and community services
- Liaising with allied health professionals, support coordinators, plan managers, and community organisations to coordinate appropriate support and services for participants.
- Identify, document, and respond to risks, safeguarding participant wellbeing and complying with incident management requirements.
- Maintain accurate case management notes, progress reports, risk assessments, and documentation in line with NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission standards and NIISQ Act and Regulations.
- Uphold ethical practice, confidentiality, cultural safety, and trauma-informed approaches.
- Actively keep up to date with service changes in accordance with the NDIS Safeguarding Commission and NIISQ Act and Regulations.
- Comply with Arthur Care organisational policies and procedures relevant to this position, which include WHS and quality, and is in alignment with the NDIS Safeguarding Commission and NIISQ Act and Regulations.
- Travel and attend meetings, training, or conferences when required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma or higher in the relevant field
- One (1) year of relevant experience
- Excellent communication, de-escalation and interpersonal skills.
- High level of interpersonal skills including the ability to develop and maintain relationships with staff and participants.
- Ability to work autonomously and within multidisciplinary teams.
- Extensive knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) framework and regulations.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and manage complex case management
Skills:
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong documentation, case management, safeguarding, and risk-management skills.
- Sound understanding of NDIS requirements, confidentiality, ethical practice, and trauma-informed support.
Benefits & Remuneration:
- Salary commensurate with experience $82,000 to $86,000 plus guaranteed superannuation.
