The Opportunity
A leading national law firm is seeking two Lawyers / Associates to join its Intellectual Property, Technology & Regulatory practice in Adelaide.
You will work primarily with Adelaide and Sydney Partners as part of an established specialist practice spanning intellectual property, technology, telecommunications and major procurement.
This is a particularly attractive opportunity for a commercial lawyer looking to transition into a specialist technology and IP practice. Prior IT law experience is well regarded but not essential with the firm open to strong general commercial lawyers who have a genuine interest and enthusiasm for developing their career in this area.
The Role
You will work across a broad mix of IP, technology, telecommunications and major procurement matters with a strong commercial component. Your work will include:
- Reviewing, negotiating and drafting commercial contracts
- Advising on a broad range of commercial transactions
- Technology and intellectual property matters
- Telecommunications matters
- Major procurement projects
- Providing practical legal and commercial advice tailored to clients’ business objectives
- Working directly with clients and taking increasing ownership of matters
The practice acts for a sophisticated client base including large listed companies, overseas-based suppliers, government agencies, Australian subsidiaries of multinational companies and dynamic Australian businesses.
About You
This opportunity will suit a Lawyer or Associate with minimum 2+ years PAEideally gained within a general commercial practice.
You will ideally bring:
- Experience reviewing, negotiating and drafting commercial contracts
- Exposure to a range of commercial transactions
- Strong legal drafting and attention to detail
- Excellent legal analysis and problem-solving skills
- A commercially minded approach and ability to understand clients’ business needs and objectives
- The ability to provide sound, pragmatic and practical advice
- Experience dealing directly with clients
- Confidence working autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A genuine desire to learn and develop within technology and IP law.
Existing IT law experience is not essential. Lawyers with strong general commercial experience who are genuinely interested in transitioning into technology law are strongly encouraged to apply.
