Hays is partnering with a well-established and growing organisation within the healthcare services sector to recruit an experienced Assistant Accountant. This is an exciting temporary-to-permanent opportunity for a motivated finance professional looking to take the next step in their career while working closely with an experienced Financial Controller.
Your new role
Working as part of a collaborative finance team, you will provide end-to-end accounting support across the full finance function while acting as a key support to the Financial Controller. This is a broad and hands-on role offering excellent exposure to month-end processes, reporting, reconciliations and financial analysis.Key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with month-end and year-end close processes
- Bank, balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations
- Accounts payable and accounts receivable oversight
- Journal preparation and posting
- Assisting with budgeting and forecasting activities
- Payroll support and associated reconciliations
- Preparation of BAS, FBT and other compliance reporting
- Supporting the preparation of management reports and financial statements
- Maintaining accurate financial records and process improvements across the finance function
- Providing ad hoc support to the Financial Controller and wider leadership team
What you'll need to succeed
- Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role
- Exposure to month-end accounting processes
- Strong reconciliation and reporting skills
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise across the business
- Relevant accounting qualifications or working towards a CA/CPA will be highly regarded
