Your New RoleThis new role focusses on assisting with investigations being conducted into student welfare and other reports of concerning behaviour. Working as part of the function of the organisation that delivers key supports to students, this role is focused on improving the experience of students with their safety being at the forefront of the role. Having a focus on a variety of different and complex topics this role will conduct investigations into strong material and then be responsible for completing written reports to ensure that all information is documented correctly.
What Youll Need to Succeed The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Use sound investigative skills to conduct investigations by verifying facts, obtaining evidence, comprehensive interviewing and compiling statements, reports and briefs of evidence in support of formal action. Ensure principles of procedural fairness and natural justice are applied to all persons involved, and that decisions are supported by the evidence and are legally defensible
- Apply a best-practice approach to the risk assessment and management of concerning or threatening behaviour, and sensitively manage incidents, focusing on the early identification and treatment of risks. This often requires creative thinking and includes assessing the facts and tailoring the most appropriate solution when there are many viable solutions
- Provide support, information, referrals, advice and motivational interviews to staff and students in response to challenging situations and behaviours
- Participate in risk assessment meetings in response to ongoing and high-risk cases, in collaboration with different areas of the organisation and assist in the development of risk management strategies, determining the most appropriate course of action
- Work closely with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure appropriate sharing of information and case management
- Ensure all communications, advice and interventions comply with laws, policies and procedures, and are based on sound behavioural risk assessment and management principles as informed by best practice and current research
- Assist with the development of resources in collaboration with stakeholders to build staff and student capacity and resilience in relation to concerning and threatening behaviours
- Presenting to staff and students to increase visibility across all campuses, inform them of available reporting options, risk management and welfare supports
- Provide metrics, key indicators and reports to the manager to further the development of the shared incident reporting and recording system
- Stay up to date with laws, policies and procedures relating to criminal offences, privacy, investigations, rules of evidence and misconduct
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of incidents and case information, keeping information management databases up to date
What Youll Get in ReturnIn return, you will receive a competitive salary of $81.05 - $89.78 per hour + super for a contract until the end of the year based in Clayton with an on-site working requirement.
