Specialist Consultant - Pathology
- Support the Staff Specialist Microbiologist with clinical and diagnostic advice.
- Provide leave coverage during periods of absence.
- Engage in teaching and research within the Infectious Diseases Department.
Our client service aims to deliver a high-quality service to general practitioners, medical specialists and private hospitals, providing patients with no out of pocket expenses for Medicare eligible tests. The team comprises a large team involving multi-disciplinary scientists, technicians, non-technical staff and Pathologists.
The Role:
This role will support the Staff Specialist Microbiologist by providing clinical and diagnostic advice to Pathology and the ID physician team within the Infectious Diseases Department. The position will also provide leave coverage for the Staff Specialist Microbiologist during periods of absence.
You will need:
- Experience in management of the clinical microbiology service including bench-level advice
- Experience in communication of critical microbiology results to the treating teams
- To be prepared for regular interaction with the hospital’s infectious diseases service and the infection control unit
- Teaching and research skills
- Good understanding of laboratory safety
Details of appointment:
- Fixed term part time, day worker (with on call) position, working up to 22.8 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as possible until 20 April 2027. *Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant
Salary:
Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $222,789 - $319,701 per annum, pro rata + 12% superannuation + access to salary packaging
Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $309,222 -$319,701 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award
