Public Sector People is partnering with a QLD State Government department to source an experienced Senior Procurement Officer for a contract position within their Procurement and Contract Management Group.

This team partners with business units across the department to deliver expert support and advice throughout the procurement lifecycle. In this role, you'll take the lead on procurement activities, ensuring outcomes meet business needs while complying with the Queensland Procurement Policy (QPP) and departmental policies and procedures.

Location: Brisbane CBD
Initial Contract until 28/03/2027
Hourly Rate: $91.34 per hour plus super

Your Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist, accurate procurement support and advice, and respond to performance metrics to continuously improve outcomes
  • Provide timely, professional and strategic procurement advice to stakeholders and suppliers on processes and practices affected by legislation, the QPP, and departmental policy
  • Lead end-to-end strategic procurement activities, including:
    • Procurement planning, sourcing strategy and approval
    • Preparing procurement documentation for release to market
    • Tender administration
    • Leading evaluation and negotiation for supplier selection
    • Finalising contract award, including preparing contract documents
    • Managing contract handover to the contract manager
    • Contract management, including administration, reporting and incident management
    • Monitoring contract performance against KPIs
    • Managing contractual disputes and invoicing issues
    • Preparing contract variations and extensions
    • Undertaking contract negotiations to ensure operational efficiency and value
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, industry and suppliers
  • Conduct site visits as required to maintain productive working relationships
  • Prepare and review performance reports, briefing notes and correspondence
  • Maintain procurement record management systems and contribute to system improvements

What We're Looking For

  • Comprehensive, end-to-end procurement experience, including tender evaluation, negotiation, contract award and debrief processes across a range of industries
  • Proven ability to deliver complex procurement processes and adapt to emergent situations
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate clearly across diverse audiences
  • Sound understanding of governance and risk management in a procurement context
  • Experience with ICT procurement highly regarded
  • Tertiary qualifications in business/procurement, or CIPS (or equivalent) certification, well regarded
