We are seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Early Childhood Teacher to join our team at our Condell Park centre on a full-time basis.
The successful applicant will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging educational programs, supporting children's individual learning and development, maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment and developing positive relationships with children, families and fellow educators.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Early Childhood Teacher will be responsible for:
- Planning, developing and implementing age-appropriate educational programs and learning experiences for young children.
- Structuring engaging indoor and outdoor learning environments using a range of educational materials, resources and equipment.
- Developing learning experiences that encourage children's literacy, numeracy, creativity, communication and critical-thinking skills.
- Using play-based learning strategies and a variety of teaching approaches to respond to children's individual learning styles, interests and developmental needs.
- Delivering activities that promote children's physical development, motor skills, confidence, independence, social skills and emotional wellbeing.
- Promoting early language and literacy development through reading, storytelling, songs, role play, discussions and other interactive learning experiences.
- Planning and delivering activities that encourage creativity through art, music, literature, imaginative play and other age-appropriate experiences.
- Observing and documenting children's learning, behaviour and developmental progress and using these observations to inform future educational programs.
- Identifying children who may require additional learning or developmental support and developing appropriate strategies to assist their participation and progress.
- Implementing individualised learning strategies where required to support children with diverse educational and developmental needs.
- Monitoring children's health, safety, nutrition and general wellbeing while they participate in the early learning program.
- Establishing and maintaining a safe, nurturing, organised and inclusive learning environment where children feel supported and respected.
- Establishing clear and age-appropriate expectations and routines that promote positive behaviour, cooperation and respectful relationships.
- Building strong, positive and responsive relationships with children and supporting their social and emotional development.
- Communicating regularly with parents and families regarding their child's learning, development, achievements and areas requiring further support.
- Conducting and participating in parent discussions and meetings regarding children's educational and developmental progress.
- Working collaboratively with educators, centre management and other team members to plan and evaluate educational programs.
- Participating in staff meetings, professional discussions and centre activities to support continuous improvement of teaching and learning practices.
- Maintaining appropriate educational records, observations and documentation relating to children's learning and development.
- Supporting inclusive practices and encouraging children from different backgrounds and abilities to participate fully in the learning program.
- Participating in family and community engagement activities where appropriate.
- Providing guidance and support to educators and student teachers undertaking professional placements where required.
- Ensuring teaching practices and learning environments comply with relevant early childhood education, health, safety and workplace requirements.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
- Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood Teaching or an equivalent relevant early childhood teaching qualification.
- Current accreditation with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) appropriate for employment as an Early Childhood Teacher.
- At least 1 year of full-time relevant experience working as an Early Childhood Teacher or in a closely related early childhood teaching role.
- Demonstrated experience planning and implementing educational programs for young children.
- Experience delivering play-based and developmentally appropriate learning activities.
- Knowledge of early childhood learning, literacy, numeracy, communication and social development.
- Experience observing children's development and using observations to plan appropriate learning experiences.
- Ability to identify children's individual learning and developmental needs and provide appropriate support.
- Experience communicating effectively with parents and families regarding children's learning and progress.
- Ability to establish positive and supportive relationships with young children.
- Strong understanding of children's health, safety and wellbeing requirements.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational, planning and classroom management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of an early childhood education team.
