About the Role
Oh Boy, Bok Choy! is seeking an experienced Chef to join its kitchen team. The successful candidate will prepare and cook a range of South-East Asian dishes, coordinate food preparation during service and maintain consistent standards of flavour, quality, presentation and kitchen operations.

Salary: $75,000 to $85,000 per annum plus Superannuation
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a range of South-East Asian dishes in accordance with established recipes and presentation standards
- Prepare and cook menu items reflecting Vietnamese, Chinese, Malaysian and Thai culinary influences in accordance with the restaurant’s established recipes and standards
- Monitor food preparation and cooking processes to maintain consistent quality, flavour and presentation
- Inspect ingredients and food products to ensure freshness and appropriate quality
- Regulate cooking temperatures and operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and effectively
- Season, portion and present dishes in accordance with restaurant standards
- Assist with menu planning, seasonal dishes and estimating food requirements
- Monitor ingredient usage and minimise food wastage through appropriate preparation and portion control
- Ensure ingredients and prepared food are stored, handled and rotated appropriately
- Coordinate food preparation activities and guide junior kitchen staff during service
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workstations, equipment and storage areas
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements
Candidate Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery or a related discipline
- Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen
- Experience preparing South-East Asian cuisine will be highly regarded
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and commercial kitchen operations
- Ability to maintain consistent food quality, flavour, portioning and presentation during busy service periods
- Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe food-handling requirements
- Strong organisational, communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced restaurant environment
