Position – PRODUCTION HORTICULTURIST
Employment type – Full-time permanent, 38 hours a week

Salary packaging - $75,000 to $90,000 + superannuation per annum
Our client SINGH PLANTATION PTY LTD is looking for a permanent skilled Production Horticulturist for the farming located within the business at QLD 4871.
Responsibility:
Successful candidate will be responsible for maximising crop yield and fruit quality by managing the complete plant growth cycle from tissue culture planting through to harvesting. The role involves planning fertilisation programs, monitoring and controlling pests and diseases, and ensuring healthy crop development to achieve optimal productivity.
Key Duties:
• Ensure all land preparation activities, including clearing, ploughing, ripping, and bed formation, are completed according to established banana cultivation procedures, and other fruits when required.
• Train and supervise farm workers and equipment operators to ensure all activities are performed safely and in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Develop and implement scheduled work plans to support efficient banana production activities, including planting, crop maintenance, and harvesting.
• Monitor field operations and crop performance, implementing corrective actions where required to maintain crop health and productivity.
• Ensure sufficient availability of farming inputs, including fertilisers, planting materials, and other supplies required for production activities.
• Oversee the operation, maintenance, and correct use of tractors, machinery, and farm equipment to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Coordinate with the Farm Manager, Agronomist, and Facility Manager to plan production activities and resolve technical or operational issues.
• Operate tractors, farm machinery, and implements for land preparation, spraying, fertilising, and transportation activities.
• Monitor banana crops for pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies, and report and manage issues promptly.
• Prepare, mix, and apply agrochemicals, including fertilisers, herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides, safely and effectively to control weeds, pests, and diseases.
• Coordinate harvesting operations to ensure bananas are harvested at the correct maturity stage and handled according to quality requirements.
• Perform soil treatment activities, including fumigation where required, to maintain soil condition and crop productivity.
• Design, install, and maintain drainage systems to prevent waterlogging and improve growing conditions.
Requirements;
· At least AQF III qualification
· 1 year of minimum experience.
