About the Opportunity

MCM Housing is a registered community housing provider focused on delivering affordable housing solutions for young people across Victoria. As part of MCM, the program aims to prevent and disrupt cycles of disadvantage by providing safe, sustainable housing and innovative housing models that support young people to achieve positive life outcomes and greater independence.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, MCM Housing, the Tenancy Services Officer supports the delivery of tenancy and property management services across the MCM Housing portfolio, primarily in Melbourne's South and Eastern Metro regions. The role works closely with tenants, support services and internal stakeholders to help sustain tenancies, coordinate housing services and contribute to positive tenant outcomes. 

About you

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Provide responsive tenancy management services and support to tenants to understand their rights and responsibilities.

  • Coordinate property maintenance requests and support routine tenancy inspections and administration.

  • Build strong relationships with tenants, community agencies and internal teams to support successful housing outcomes.

  • Maintain accurate tenancy records and assist with compliance and tenancy-related documentation, including VCAT processes.

Essential:

  • Experience in tenancy management, housing, property administration, community services or a related field.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Relevant qualification in Community Services, Human Services, Housing, Social Sciences or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

  • Passion for social justice and improving access to housing and opportunities for young people experiencing disadvantage.

Desirable:

  • Understanding of the Residential Tenancies Act 1997 (Vic) and community housing practice.

  • Knowledge of the issues impacting young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
    Experience working in a community housing, regulatory, compliance or customer service environment.

  • National Police check

  • Working with Children check or ability to obtain

  • Valid Victorian Driver's license

  • Right to Work in Australia
