Finance Business Partner - General Insurance

A leading general insurer is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Analyst or Finance Business Partner to join its collaborative finance team in Sydney.

Combining financial analysis with business partnering, this role offers the opportunity to work closely with operational leaders, translate complex data into practical recommendations and influence financial performance.

The role

You will take ownership of budgeting, forecasting and reporting for a major business portfolio, building strong stakeholder relationships and identifying opportunities to improve processes.
Key responsibilities include:

• Managing budgeting and forecasting cycles end to end.
• Analysing financial performance and providing insightful variance commentary.
• Partnering with business leaders to support decision-making and challenge assumptions.
• Delivering month-end and year-end reporting, including journals and estimates.
• Improving reporting and automation using Power Query.
• Translating large datasets into clear, actionable insights.
• Collaborating across finance and supporting junior colleagues.

About you

You will bring general insurance experience, strong analytical skills and the ability to build effective relationships across finance and the business.
Your background will include:

• Substantial experience in financial analysis or finance business partnering.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting and management reporting capabilities.
• Confidence communicating financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
• Advanced Excel and data skills, including Power Query.
• A hands-on approach and a focus on continuous improvement.
• CA/CPA qualification
