About the Position

The Analyst Programmer is central to how Immaculate Consulting delivers on its client engagements, taking client and business requirements through analysis, design, coding, testing, documentation and ongoing maintenance across the company's web, mobile, integration and cloud projects. Because the business serves clients in several different industries and works across both new build and systems integration work, the role carries responsibility for understanding each client's operating environment, designing software that fits it, diagnosing and resolving defects in live systems, and producing the technical and user documentation the client and the support team rely on afterwards. The position works alongside the consulting and technical support functions and reports into the company's management, with direct involvement in requirement discussions and project delivery decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse client, user and business requirements and translate them into software specifications, functional designs and technical documentation.
• Review existing programs and systems and assist with the design of new software applications and enhancements.
• Write, test and maintain program code to meet documented system and client requirements across web, mobile and integration projects.
• Perform analysis and design tasks for software applications, including data structures, interfaces and system logic.
• Test, debug, diagnose and correct errors and faults in applications and programming languages within established testing protocols.
• Investigate, analyse and document reported defects in live client systems and implement and verify corrections.
• Develop and direct software system testing procedures, including the preparation of test data, test cases and test reports.
• Undertake systems integration work, including the configuration of interfaces and data exchange between client systems and third-party platforms.
• Support the deployment, configuration and maintenance of applications in cloud and hosted environments.
• Write and maintain technical documentation, release notes, configuration records and user manuals.
• Liaise with clients, users and internal consulting staff on requirements, progress, defects and post-implementation support.
• Provide technical support and advice on the applications developed and maintained by the business, and contribute to code reviews and internal technical standards.
• Maintain version control, project records and development documentation in accordance with company procedures.

Requirements

• A Bachelor degree in information technology, computer science, software engineering or a closely related discipline.
• A minimum of one to two years of full-time experience in an analyst programmer, software developer or comparable applications development role.
• Demonstrated ability to write, test, debug and maintain program code, and to produce software specifications, technical documentation and user manuals to a professional standard.
• Practical experience across web and mobile application development, including front-end and back-end work, databases and the design and use of application programming interfaces.
• Working knowledge of systems integration and data exchange between business applications, and of application deployment and configuration in cloud or hosted environments.
• Competence in software testing and defect management, including preparing test cases and test data, diagnosing reported faults and verifying corrections.
• Familiarity with version control and structured development practices, and the ability to maintain accurate development and configuration records.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to discuss requirements and technical issues clearly with clients and non-technical users.
• Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound judgement when diagnosing faults in live systems and setting priorities.
• The ability to work independently and manage concurrent client projects to agreed timeframes, while contributing constructively within a small technical team.
• A conscientious, detail-focused and client-service oriented approach, with availability to meet project deadlines and support commitments.
