Payroll Advisor

Looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to support a busy local government finance team.

Our client operates and maintains a major North Queensland export terminal, delivering essential services within a highly regulated operational environment. They are looking for an experienced payroll professional to join their finance team and support accurate, compliant payroll delivery.Your new role

Coordinate end-to-end payroll processing across each pay cycle Process employee payments, deductions, and payroll adjustments accurately Maintain payroll records and work closely with People & Culture on employee information Ensure payroll transactions meet statutory, contractual, and internal requirements Complete Single Touch Payroll submissions and mandatory regulatory reporting Provide payroll-related financial information to the accounting team Investigate payroll queries and support timely issue resolution Assist with payroll system improvements, reporting, and process initiatives Build effective relationships with employees, finance, HR, and system providers

What you'll need to succeed
Previous experience managing end-to-end payroll processesStrong knowledge of payroll legislation, statutory reporting, and employee deductionsExperience interpreting enterprise agreements and employment conditionsHigh attention to detail and accuracy when handling payroll dataStrong systems skills, with SAP experience highly regardedExcellent organisational skills and ability to meet strict payroll deadlinesConfident communication and stakeholder engagement skillsAbility to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee informationProactive approach to process improvement and problem-solvingWhat you'll get in return
