Looking for an experienced Accounts Payable & Payroll Officer to join a busy finance team.

Our client is a specialist earthmoving and civil construction contractor supporting mining, infrastructure, and development projects across the region. They provide a range of excavation, bulk earthworks, plant hire, and project support services, delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes for their clients.Your new role

Process end-to-end Accounts Payable and Payroll functions, including supplier and subcontractor invoicing, fortnightly payroll, onboarding, and employee setup Reconcile supplier statements, payroll reports, credit cards, and payroll-related accounts while investigating and resolving discrepancies Maintain accurate employee, supplier, and financial records, ensuring compliance with awards, superannuation, PAYG, payroll legislation, and company policies Manage supplier, subcontractor, and employee enquiries while providing professional and confidential support Assist with payroll tax, Coal Long Service Leave requirements, year-end processing, and general finance administration Support onboarding activities and maintain accurate digital filing and document management systems

What you'll need to succeed
Previous experience in both Accounts Payable and Payroll processingExperience using MYOB AccountRight or similar accounting softwareStrong understanding of payroll legislation, superannuation, leave accruals, PAYG, and taxation requirementsHigh attention to detail with strong reconciliation and problem-solving skillsExcellent organisational skills and ability to manage competing prioritiesStrong communication skills and ability to handle confidential information professionallyExperience with payroll tax and Coal Long Service Leave highly regardedWhat you'll get in return
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive team in a varied finance role covering both Accounts Payable and Payroll. Commencing in early October, the successful candidate will benefit from a handover period before the current employee departs, ensuring a smooth transition into the position. While currently a 30-hour-per-week role, the business is seeking someone full-time who can take on additional responsibilities, with some flexibility available for the right person.What you need to do now
