We are currently seeking a consultant to undertake a redesign of Oxfam Australia’s safeguarding training materials.
About The Consultancy
Oxfam Australia is committed to being a safe and accountable organisation and has zero
tolerance towards inaction to prevent or appropriately respond to incidents of sexual
exploitation, abuse or harassment, or any form of harm to children. Part of our
commitment includes ensuring that all personnel have adequate safeguarding awareness
and undertake regular training.
As part of continual improvement, Oxfam Australia undertakes periodic external reviews of our practice to ensure alignment with best practice. We are currently seeking to engage a consultant to refresh our safeguarding training materials to ensure they remain aligned with updated Oxfam Confederation and DFAT safeguarding requirements.
The purpose of the consultancy is to ensure training materials are fit for purpose to equip
Oxfam Australia staff and associated personnel with an understanding of child protection
and PSEAH risks and intersecting factors that influence risk and vulnerability. The training
should support staff and personnel to understand their rights, responsibilities, how to report concerns, and how to respond to concerns in line with survivor-centred and trauma
informed approaches.
The consultancy will involve review of existing safeguarding training materials for Oxfam
Australia staff and, building on these, develop a refreshed training package that can be
used to deliver internal training with Oxfam Australia staff. The consultancy will also
develop training materials that can be used by project teams in countries implementing
programming supported by Oxfam Australia.
KEY DELIVERABLES
The consultant will develop a suite of training materials that reflect Oxfam’s safeguarding
commitments and ensure alignment with sector standards.
Key deliverables include:
- Training materials package to deliver comprehensive safeguarding training to Oxfam Australia staff.
- Facilitation of comprehensive safeguarding training to Oxfam Australia personnel utilising training materials developed.
- Comprehensive training materials package designed for adaptation and delivery with and/or by country project teams.
ESSENTIAL Requirements
- Strong knowledge of DFAT and ACFID Code standards on child safeguarding and Protection from sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment within international aid and development contexts.
- Experience developing and delivery training materials through in-person and/or online formats.
- Experience communicating safeguarding information effectively to a variety of audiences such as Australian based staff and international partner organisations.
