Cold End Operator/Technician (Multiple roles)

About the Opportunity: 

Our new glass factory in Yatala is our largest investment to date. It will recycle up to 200,000 tonnes of Queensland glass each year to produce 1 billion bottles. With advanced machinery and control systems, we ensure efficient, high-quality production. Located next to our box and can plants, the site will form a beverage container precinct, supporting customers and creating new job opportunities.    

What you will do:  

Within the Cold end/Packaging area, roles will be responsible for overseeing and managing the production, quality and inspection/packaging processes. 

Roles involve operating and maintaining automated machinery and systems, ensuring that glass products meet quality standards and production targets. 

• Rotating Shift: consists of 8-hour shifts and includes two consecutive weekends off every five weeks.  

• Full Training provided through the Visy Training Academy   

• Starting rate from $41 per hour (Plus OT and Shift Allowance) onwards  

• We offer clear pathways, real development, and support every step of the way 

• New Year New career - training starts in January 2027

In these roles you will: 

• Operate and maintain automated equipment (annealing lehrs, inspection machines, transport, and packing systems) 

• Monitor and adjust cooling/annealing processes to meet production specifications 

• Conduct visual and automated inspections for defects 

• Troubleshoot basic mechanical and process issues 

• Support continuous improvement efforts 

• Maintaining accurate records of production data and quality metrics. 

What you will bring to the team: 

• First experience in operating automated machinery or production lines, preferably in a manufacturing environment. 

• Good mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and maintain equipment 

• High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards. 

• A team player who communicates well and works collaboratively 

• A strong safety mindset and a proactive safety mindset 

• A proactive approach to continuous improvement and process optimisation.
