KOI Bar & Restaurant is seeking experienced Chefs to join our kitchen team in Cairns.
Located on the Cairns Esplanade, KOI offers contemporary Japanese-inspired and Asian-fusion dining, with a strong focus on fresh produce, premium seafood, sashimi, wagyu and creative share-style dishes. The menu combines traditional Japanese influences with modern Asian flavours.
About the role
These are full-time positions for qualified and experienced Chefs who are passionate about producing consistently high-quality food in a professional commercial kitchen.
Key duties include:
- Preparing and cooking dishes to KOI's established standards
- Preparing seafood, meat, vegetables, sauces and other ingredients
- Producing Japanese-inspired and Asian-fusion dishes
- Ensuring consistency in presentation, portioning and quality
- Assisting with menu preparation and development
- Monitoring food quality and freshness
- Maintaining appropriate stock levels and minimising wastage
- Complying with food safety, hygiene and workplace safety requirements
- Maintaining a clean and organised kitchen
- Working effectively with the kitchen team during busy lunch and dinner services
About you
You will have relevant commercial cookery qualifications and/or substantial experience working as a Chef in a busy restaurant environment. Experience with Japanese or Asian cuisine, seafood, sashimi or similar contemporary restaurant cooking would be highly regarded.
You must be reliable, organised and able to work effectively as part of a professional kitchen team. Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required is essential.
Salary: $70,000–$80,000 per annum + superannuation
