Join the Sparkways Team – Casual Educator/Cook

We’re looking for passionate and versatile Casual Early Childhood Educators with cooking experience to join our teams at Sparkways Early Learning Footscray and/or Showgrounds.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and preparing nutritious meals in a supportive early learning environment. We’re specifically seeking a hybrid Educator/Cook who can assist with kitchen duties, meal preparation and food safety, while also supporting educators and children in the rooms as needed.

Experience in a childcare or aged care kitchen is highly regarded!

Rates of Pay

• Casual Educators: Up to $47.67 per hour, depending on qualification and experience.

About Our Centres

Sparkways Early Learning Showgrounds – Flemington

Located in the historic Government Pavilion Building within the Showgrounds Village Precinct, our modern centre offers beautiful indoor and outdoor learning spaces for children from six weeks to school age.

Sparkways Early Learning Footscray – Billy Button Children’s Centre

Our well-established, community-focused service provides a warm and inclusive environment for children from six weeks to school age, with a strong focus on relationships, learning and development.

Occasional shifts at our Richmond ELC may also be available.

What We’re Looking For

• Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care.
• Experience working in an early childhood education and care setting.
• Cooking experience in a childcare, aged care or similar commercial kitchen environment is highly regarded.
• Ability to prepare nutritious meals and follow food safety, hygiene and safe food-handling practices.
• Confidence supporting children and educators in the rooms when required.
• Understanding of children’s dietary requirements, allergies and food safety procedures.
• Sound understanding of the NQF, NQS and EYLF.
• Strong communication, teamwork and organisational skills.
• A positive, flexible and proactive approach to work.
• Genuine passion for children’s wellbeing, learning and development.
