Assistant Accountant

MARS Recruitment is currently recruiting for an Assistant Accountant offering the chance to join a broad finance function and build on your accounting experience within the resources sector.

This is a great opportunity for someone who has started their accounting career and is ready to gain more exposure across month-end, reporting, BAS and general accounting, rather than being limited to one area of transactional finance.

The Role

Working closely with the Financial Controller, you'll be involved across a broad range of accounting responsibilities, including:

• End-to-end Accounts Payable
• Month-end journals and reconciliations
• BAS preparation and lodgement
• General ledger and day-to-day accounting
• Financial reporting and variance analysis
• Fixed assets, budgeting and forecasting
• Process improvement and ad-hoc finance projects

About You

We're looking for someone with a solid grounding in transactional accounting who is keen to continue developing their skill set.

You'll ideally have:

• 2-3 years' experience across Assistant Accounting, Accounts Payable or bookkeeping
• A relevant Accounting or Finance degree, or currently studying
• Good understanding of accounting principles
• Experience using accounting systems
• Strong Excel skills
• CA/CPA studies, or an interest in pursuing them, would be advantageous
