Western District Health Service is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Receivable – Inpatient Billing Clerk to join our Finance Team.

Working on a permanent part-time basis, this role is responsible for the accurate and timely billing of private and compensable inpatient services, ensuring compliance with relevant healthcare funding and billing requirements. You will play an important role in supporting revenue collection, maintaining financial records and providing exceptional customer service to patients, health funds, insurers and internal stakeholders.

This opportunity would suit an experienced accounts receivable professional or an administration professional looking to further develop their career within a supportive healthcare environment. Additional hours may be available initially to assist with workload requirements and billing backlog management.

What You'll Be Doing

Inpatient Billing & Revenue Management

Process private and compensable patient accounts in accordance with Victorian Public Health Service funding requirements, Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS), Private Health Insurance (PHI) requirements and National Health Reform Agreement billing guidelines.

Accounts Receivable Administration

Manage debtor accounts, process invoices and receipts, coordinate refunds where required and undertake collection activities to support timely revenue recovery.

Customer Service & Stakeholder Liaison

Respond to billing enquiries and liaise with patients, health funds, Medicare, insurers, clinicians and internal departments to obtain information, resolve discrepancies and facilitate account resolution.

Financial Reporting & Month-End Processing

Assist with month-end and year-end processes, ensuring billing transactions are processed accurately and within required timeframes.

Continuous Improvement

Contribute to process improvements, system enhancements and efficiency initiatives that support quality billing practices and improved revenue outcomes.

Team Support

Provide leave relief for Accounts Receivable – Sundry Billing and support switchboard and reception functions when required.

What You Bring

  • Experience in an accounts receivable role is highly desirable
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Well-developed organisational and time management abilities
  • Strong problem-solving capability
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems and software applications
  • Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Current Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Rights to work in Australia
