With a diverse operating environment and a focus on strong financial management, the organisation offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious accountant to gain broad exposure across financial reporting, analysis, budgeting, forecasting and compliance.
Working as part of the finance function, the Accountant will take ownership of entity-level month-end processes while supporting a broad range of accounting and reporting activities. The position will work closely with internal and external stakeholders and provide exposure across management reporting, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, compliance and operational finance.
The Role
Your duties will include:
- Prepare and manage entity-level month-end processes, including adjusting journals, balance sheet reconciliations and management reporting
- Prepare and analyse management income and expenditure reports, identifying and investigating material variances
- Deliver ad hoc financial reporting and analysis across sales, inventory and expenditure
- Manage stock balances, including month-end reconciliations, adjustments and operational queries
- Support product costing processes and associated financial analysis
- Maintain fixed asset registers and manage associated accounting requirements
- Manage lease accounting, including relevant records and reconciliations
- Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements and Fringe Benefits Tax returns while supporting broader tax compliance requirements
- Assist with annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting processes
- Support cash flow management through the review of collections, payables and information required for payment approvals
- Assist with the establishment and ongoing management of financial policies and procedures
- Support external audit requirements, including preparing information and liaising with external auditors
- Assist with senior management and stakeholder reporting as required
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders across a broad range of financial matters
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- CA or CPA qualified, or currently working towards qualification
- Minimum two years’ relevant accounting experience
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, month-end processes and financial reporting
- Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting and cost accounting
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and working knowledge of financial accounting software
- Strong organisational skills, initiative and attention to detail
- Strong communication and business partnering skills with the ability to build effective stakeholder relationships
- A positive and proactive attitude with a genuine desire to learn, develop and progress within the role
