5G Design Engineer – long-term project
- Design and integrate 4G/5G network solutions and architectures.
- Support network planning, coverage, capacity and performance engineering.
- Perform network and systems testing, including laboratory and field testing.
Working with a tier 1 infrastructure giant, you will work on a complex, next-generation communications program where 5G technology, systems engineering and mission-critical communications come together. You will play a key role in the design, integration, testing and optimisation of advanced 5G network systems, working alongside experienced engineers, technology partners and specialist teams, and will contribute across the full systems lifecycle, from architecture and requirements through to integration, testing and deployment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and integrating 4G/5G network solutions and architectures.
- Working across 5G RAN, 5G Core, transport and edge infrastructure.
- Developing network and system requirements and technical specifications.
- Supporting network planning, coverage, capacity and performance engineering.
- Configuring, integrating and troubleshooting network equipment and systems.
- Performing network and systems testing, including laboratory and field testing.
- Analysing network performance, logs, traces and protocol captures.
- Supporting end-to-end systems integration and interoperability activities.
- Working with suppliers and technology partners to resolve technical issues.
- Developing engineering documentation, test plans and technical reports.
- Supporting system assurance, resilience and cybersecurity activities.
- Contributing to technical reviews and engineering decision-making.
You will ideally have:
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Telecommunications, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional experience in mobile telecommunications or network engineering.
- Strong knowledge of 5G NR, 5G Standalone and 5G Core technologies.
- Experience with RAN architecture, configuration and optimisation.
- Strong IP networking and telecommunications knowledge.
- Experience in systems integration and network testing.
- The ability to troubleshoot complex network and systems issues.
- Experience working with technical standards and specifications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
